The Ocracoke Civic and Business Association has re-convened for 2023 and is working on new opportunities to provide improved business marketing, civic engagement, and advocacy programs for our community.
Contributors receive the following with their annual contribution:
• Advocacy for civic and business issues impacting our village. Monthly meetings are a community forum. Currently the OCBA is involved in the construction of public restrooms for the village and in communication with the Ferry Division to improve ferry service. In the past the OCBA has worked with state government, Hyde County, the National Park Service, and the NCDOT on issues important to Ocracoke.
• Input to the Ocracoke Community website. This site will be more civic centered with regular updates on crucial island information and events, including but not limited to Mobile Dentist dates, Flu-Shot dates, other island board meeting dates and links to join virtually, live-stream of OCBA monthly meetings, etc.
• Participation in OCBA sponsored educational seminars and events. These seminars are offered throughout the year covering various business and civic topics. The OCBA produces the following events in 2023: July 4 activities; Island-wide Yard Sale(s); Pirate Jamboree; Holiday Market; Holiday lights around the village; Island Celebration (competition).
In addition, Business Contributors will receive:
• Feature-rich enhanced listing on www.ocracokeguide.com. This travel website receives over 1 million views annually and is consistently one of the top three websites when searching for Ocracoke travel terms (Ocracoke shopping, things to do, restaurants, events and places to stay). Contributors will be able to add photos, content, etc., to their own listing. One Boat staff will be available to assist in keeping the info current and to provide ongoing support.
In addition, Service Contributors (contractors, plumbers, electricians, etc.) will receive:
A listing on the civic website with OCBA support for maintaining accurate contact information and business hours.
